September 2017
Welcome to our first official newsletter! The purpose of these newsletters will be to give you a little extra insight into what is going on in the galleries, the studio, and our lives.
Currently I have an exhibition of work called Reminiscent of a Place at Westland Gallery. Those of you familiar with my work will notice a big shift in my approach. This is the first exhibition of its kind for me. The work is neither abstract or landscape. This is the first time I have allowed myself to paint as instinctively as possible. The work is much more about the process and my mind set than the subject or the forms. The exhibition comes to an end September 9th so there are only a couple of days left. Any remaining work will be available to view at the Art Exchange just up the road from the gallery.
This past weekend Krista and I attended the largest science fiction convention in Canada as exhibitors. I brought along with me my most current science fiction work and it was very well received. We learned a lot from that venue and immediately signed up for next year.
We will also be setting up at Forest City Comicon on September 23rd at the London Convention Center and at London Comic Con from October 13th to the 15th at the Western Fair Agriplex Building. I will be showing original paintings as well as a handful of prints.
In the coming weeks, I will be quite busy with preparations for the Comicons but I have also been feeling an urge to get back into some landscape paintings. I am becoming increasingly interested in colour ... brighter colour! Not sure what else to say because I haven't made them yet....
As a final note, I would also like to use this inaugural newsletter to express my deepest appreciation to all of you who have supported me over the past 17 years. I am fortunate to have met so many great people ... many of whom have become good friends.
Look for the next newsletter in October.
